The journey
Ouarzazate sits on the far side of the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the gateway to the south and to the kasbah at Aït Ben Haddou. It is 191 km from Marrakech, about 3 h 40 of driving. Your driver will stop on the way whenever you ask.
This is the Tizi n'Tichka, the pass over the High Atlas, and it is the most spectacular road in the country. It is also two hours of switchbacks — if anyone in the car gets travel sick, sit them in front and say so when you book. Most people stop at Aït Ben Haddou on the way, which adds an hour and is worth it.
